After almost a decade of films, The Conjuring is one of the most prolific modern horror franchises. Following the husband and wife paranormal investigative team, The Conjuring does not lack in a wide cast of characters.
While some characters are demonic, their zodiac signs are identifiable and relatable. From fire to water signs, there is no lack in defining characteristics.
12 Aries: Valak
First appearing in The Conjuring 2, Valak’s presence is paramount in The Conjuring franchise. While Lorraine banishes the demonic entity by speaking its name, Valak was not gone from the series and still appears in prequels.
In the usual demonic fashion, Valak uses many faces. A typical fire sign, Valak is all aggression and fury. It cannot be reasoned with and is better off banished, though it keeps coming back stronger than ever.
11 Taurus: Judith
At first, Judith had just been a set piece on The Conjuring movies. Daughter of Lorraine and Ed, Judith also possesses her mother’s second sight. Featured prominently in Annabelle Comes Home, Judith has a kind heart. While unfortunately bullied, she is stubborn when it comes to what she knows to be true.
She uses her gifts for good and is steadfast. She is the reason that the girls survive the night of terror at the Warren house.
10 Gemini: Janet
Even before Janet was used as a puppet by Valak, she had all the makings of a true Gemini. The demon possesses her and manipulates her into faking an incident so everyone would think the happening was a hoax.
Because Janet was already erratic and unsure of herself, Valak takes advantage. Her malleability eventually allows her to fight off the demon.
9 Cancer: Irene
Not normally what you would think of when you think of a devout nun, Irene is the perfect Cancer. Understanding and empathetic, she also doesn't shy away from a fight.
In the end, Irene takes her vows to become a nun, knowing that demonic forces are real and she must use her gifts to fight that evil.
8 Leo: Frenchie
Frenchie never wanted to be involved in demonic possession but is pulled into the world after finding the body of a nun hanging from a noose. Like all Leo’s, he is passionate and invested in his vices.
Even so, he does the right thing. Despite his need for self-preservation, he is loyal enough to return to Irene and Father Burke. He uses his passion to fight the forces of darkness, even at his peril.
7 Virgo: Billy
Not necessarily what you think of when you think of prominent characters in The Conjuring movies, Billy is not to be discounted. Though his love of biscuits is his defining characteristic, he is also caring and loyal.
While he is quiet and victimized by Valak who is using the Crooked Man to scare his family, he understands what Janet is going through and sticks with her to the end.
6 Libra: Maurice Grosse
Maurice Grosse’s motives in The Conjuring 2 were not clear until the end. His logic is what motivates him to find the demon in the house. He is sure that there is something beyond this life.
After his daughter’s death, he just wanted to know that her spirit was trying to contact him. He believes that is the case and believes in Janet’s story. He wants assurances that what he believed was true.
5 Scorpio: Annabelle
One of The Conjuring’s most famous villains, Annabelle is nothing if not a Scorpio. Tricky until the end, Annabelle lives for mischief.
The demonic entity does not literally live in the doll but uses it as a conduit for demonic manipulation of the people around it. Like any Scorpio, Annabelle is never sorry and will never stop.
4 Sagittarius: Ed Warren
Being a paranormal investigator is not all that Ed is about. More than anything, he is an artist. He has a kind heart and when he is not demon hunting, spends his time playing music and painting.
He wants to make the world a better place and uses many avenues to accomplish it. Even when he is investigating haunted houses, he still finds time to play guitar.
3 Anita Gregory: Capricorn
The great debunker, Anita Gregory is committed to her work. She is there to prove that Janet is faking her demonic possession.
She believes in this work wholeheartedly and like any Capricorn, cannot be swayed from it. Her works is important to her personality and does not have anything outside of it.
2 Aquarius: Father Burke
Father Burke is one of the more free thinkers at the Vatican. When he goes to investigate incidents, he keeps an open mind.
When he sees something, he believes it, but at times is not able to cope with the fact these things exist. Nevertheless, he goes where the church tells him to go, unable to fight powers bigger than himself.
1 Pisces: Lorraine Warren
Always ruled by her emotions, Lorraine is one of the most sensitive figures in this franchise. Her most marketable skill is her clairvoyance. She can commune with otherworldly entities and that makes her a powerful figure.
This gift is not without its drawbacks. Many times, demonic entities take advantage of this. Lorraine feels deeply for everyone around her whether it benefits her or not.
