Warning: Minor spoilers for The Boys season 2.
Stormfront's powers were on full display in the first few episodes from The Boys season 2, which has fans wondering just how powerful she really is and if her strength is comparable to that of Homelander. Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Boys quickly became one of Amazon Prime's most popular shows when season 1 released in 2019. And the streaming service not only brought back the show for a second season but is also planning a third season as well.
Furthermore, perhaps because of the pandemic and perhaps because Amazon wants to keep the show in the news for longer, The Boys season 2's release schedule has changed to a weekly format. The first three episodes from season 2 released on September 4, with new episodes coming every week after that. This means a lot of the story and particular character details are still unknown, including who Stormfront is and just what Vought's plan is with her. She was chosen directly by Mr. Edgar to replace Translucent in The Seven, after all.
Just based on the first three episodes from The Boys season 2, it's clear that Stormfront isn't an ordinary hero; she's willing to go toe-to-toe with Homelander and can arguably take him on too. Stormfront's powers are entirely derived from electrical manipulation. Her main superpower is electrokinesis, which allows her to generate and control the electricity in her body, even channeling that electricity towards her enemies (similarly to Palpatine's Force Lightning in Star Wars). It's possible she can use her electrical abilities to levitate, to some extent, not to mention she has the standard superhero strength and durability as well.
Comparatively, Stormfront's powers in The Boys comics are essentially the same - but accurate characterizations haven't been much of a problem for the TV show so far. Really, the only real notable difference at this stage - other than the fact that The Boys gender-swapped Stormfront for season 2 - is that the comic Stormfront has better control of his powers - or, at least, Amazon's version hasn't exhibited her full destructive capabilities yet. In the comics, Stormfront can fly and channel electricity through his mouth.
Given the antagonistic nature between Homelander and Stormfront in these first three episodes, it's possible a fight of some sorts is in store for the two superheroes in The Boys season 2. Homelander is practically impossible to kill, but if anyone can take him on in a fight, it's Stormfront. Her powerset is unique enough to be a worthy adversary, and electricity like hers may not have been tested against Homelander just yet. It was explained last season that Homelander's one weakness was Madelyn Stillwell, but what if that's because no one knows what his true weakness is? Fans could find out in The Boys season 2, but for Stormfront, the question is: Will viewers see the full extent of her superpowers this season?
