Pixar's Soul Will Release With New SparkShort, Burrow

Pixar announced that the SparkShort preceding Soul is titled Burrow. Soul is Pixar's next feature and is set to hit theaters on November 20. The film was initially set to premiere on June 19, but Disney pushed postponed the film's release due to theater closures surrounding the pandemic. While Disney has since pushed back the majority of its 2020 lineup to 2021, Soul is still set to hit theaters in November as intended.

Like all the Pixar films that came before, Soul will have a SparkShort that precedes itPixar announced on Twitter that the short will be Burrow—as in the holes dug by many types of animals. The poster attached to the announcement shows an upset and frightened rabbit at the very bottom of a burrow standing with his arms protectively crossed around its chest. Several burrows lie above him containing other underground animals nonchalantly going about their daily lives.

Pixar dropped the teaser image for the short on September 26, aka International Rabbit Day. Burrow was directed by Madeline Sharafian who is well-versed in the world of animal animation. She has worked as a writer-director for animated short Omelette and art designer for Coco, and has done both for Cartoon Network's We Bare Bears.

Soul follows a musician and middle school band teacher named Joe (Jamie Foxx) who has lost his passion for music and is transported out of his body. He must find his way back with the help of an infant soul learning about herself.
