Justice League Snyder Cut With Birds of Prey-Style Title Is Perfect

A fan has suggested the perfect alternate title for Zack Snyder's director's cut of Justice League, referencing Birds of Prey's long subtitle and Superman's resurrection. The Snyder Cut of Justice League, due to be released in four hour-long part on HBO Max early next year, dropped it's first full-length trailer at DC FanDome this past weekend, revealing that the official title is simply Zack Snyder's Justice League. The new version of the movie will restore Snyder's original vision, including his plans for the resurrection of Superman.

In the theatrical version of Justice League that was released in 2017, Joss Whedon, who took over directing duties from Snyder following a family tragedy, chose to simplify Superman's resurrection, and make the battle between him and the other members of the Justice League a lot less intense. Based on the trailer seen this weekend, the Snyder Cut will restore Snyder's original idea. This also plays into the footage that Snyder released, showing Superman wearing a black suit, something reserved in the comics for the period where he is regenerating his powers.

Now, a fan on Reddit with a sharp sense of humor has suggested that the title for Zack Snyder's Justice League should add "And The Fantabulous Ressurection of Superman" as a subtitle. It references not only the focus on Superman's alternate resurrection in the Snyder Cut, but also the title of another DCEU movie, Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. You can see the title treatment, complete with Superman's 'S' logo in place of the heart doodles seen on the Birds of Prey title, below.

The title is doubly funny when you know that Birds of Prey had to change its title online due to many audiences not realizing it was a movie about Harley Quinn thanks to the long and complicated title. Just days after hitting theaters, the title was changed on movie booking sites to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey so that casual fans would make the connection to the iconic character. TotallyOnTask, the fan who posted the title on Reddit, clearly thought it was funny to imagine what a complicated Justice League title would focus on.

It's a rare piece of humor from Justice League fans, who can be known for taking the movie, and its director, a little too seriously. It's also a not-so-subtle dig at DC for their mistake in giving Birds of Prey such a complicated name and potentially alienating casual audiences. Thankfully they didn't make that mistake with the Snyder Cut, keeping it simple by adding the director's name to the original title of Justice League.
