Alex Winter, co-star of the upcoming Bill & Ted Face the Music, showed off his ripped character in a new behind the scenes image. The third entry in the beloved Bill & Ted series is only days away from its release, 30 years after the last film.
Fans of the loveable stoner duo (Keanu Reeves stars as Bill) have much to be excited for with the release of Bill & Ted 3. Not only has it been a three-decade wait for more time-traveling fun, but the series cleared numerous hurdles along the way, ultimately succeeding when many thought a third film could never happen. It’s hard to say just what Bill & Ted Face the Music will offer audiences when it arrives in theatres and on VOD this August 28. Still, if the trailer is any indication, it’s going to be yet another wild adventure. This time around, it’s not just Bill and Ted who will be taking on the inherent challenges of time travel – they’ll also have their daughters, Thea and Billie (Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine) helping out.
And despite being mere days away from its release, there is still much that fans don’t know about Bill & Ted Face the Music. Winter appears set to tease that fact in the lead up to August 28, recently promising to post six new BTS photos from the production of Bill & Ted 3 via his Twitter account until the film arrives. The first photo is a hilarious one, with Winter having beefed up somewhat for his role as Ted. In addition to being far more muscular than fans remember the character, Ted also appears to have lost all his hair and gained several tattoos:
Winter calls the photo “very hot and very tired,” and it’s not hard to see wearing that much makeup and prosthetics would indeed be a challenge. As for exactly why Ted is ripped in Bill & Ted 3, well, that remains a mystery. There is a brief glimpse in the film’s trailer of Bill and Ted in a prison yard, encountering two huge men who bear a striking resemblance to the duo. The best guess would be to assume that perhaps Bill and Ted have ended up in prison in the future, but why? Have the people of the future lost faith in Bill and Ted for not having delivered the song that would unite the world? It’s hard to say whether the monstrous versions of Bill and Ted are versions of their future selves or some warped alternate reality.
With Bill and Ted Face the Music on its way, fans would do well to keep an eye Winter’s upcoming Twitter posts. Five more photos will be arriving before August 28, and if the remaining handful are as funny and mysterious as this one, then there’s more reason than ever to believe that the third installment in the franchise might be the best one yet.
