The Superman Family is About To Assemble (With TWO Superboys)

Superman has faced a wide variety of enemies over the past few months, but one enemy will require the entire might of the Superman family. It seems that, as of late, Superman has dealt with a constant array of threats and enemies, ever since he made his secret identity public to the world. For example, Lex Luthor's recent invasion of Metropolis almost immediately followed Superman's revelation, and proved to be a brutal showdown between the longtime foes. However, recent events have brought to light that a secret "invisible" mafia had been lurking in Metropolis for many years, unbeknownst to Superman and his allies. With this revelation, the Superman family is now ready to fight this threat, with the assistance of both Conner Kent and Jonathan Kent Superboys.

Jonathan Kent is the son of Lois and Clark Kent who, though a bit impulsive, wanted to be a hero since he was a child. After a long expedition in outer-space with his Grandfather, Jor-El, Jon returned to Earth as a young teenager, ready to pick up where he left off. However, his time in the present day would be short lived, as he was almost immediately recruited into the Legion of Super-Heroes, a team of super-powered teenagers from the future. Though one Superboy left the present day, another would make a reappearance, as Conner Kent would return shortly afterwards. In the pages of Young Justice, Conner Kent, the clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, would reunite with his former super-hero team, and travel through the multiverse. Recently, while on the main DC earth, Superboy would reunite with Superman, as well as Ma and Pa Kent, and reestablish himself among DC's greatest teenage heroes. However, it appears that both Superboys will be necessary to combat the threat of the Invisible Mafia.

DC Solicitations for September 2020 revealed the first look at  Action Comics #1025 showcasing the entire Superman family, including both Superboys, standing together. The inclusion of Lois Lane is interesting, but given that she has had a more proactive role in both her limited series and Action Comics, it's almost expected that Lois would get involved in the action. It would also make sense given that, one of the Invisible Mafia members is also a journalist as well, it would stand to reason that a "journalist showdown" would be inevitable. Superman and Supergirl are also included in the image, but it has yet to be seen if any other "Super-Family" members might make an appearance in the issue itself. Regardless, the Invisible Mafia themselves will certainly have their hands full against this roster of heroes.

The solicitation itself also reveals some interesting details about the issue itself, saying that the Superman family will speak to the Invisible Mafia "in a language they’ll understand." Whether this means Superman will take a more direct, possibly violent approach, is up for debate at the moment. However, given that the solicit mentions that this new adventure will show us a side of Superman, and his family, "like we've never seen him - or them - before," it does beg the question as to how the Invisible Mafia will be dealt with. Given that Superman has been through a lot in previous issues, the fact that a secret organization has been run behind his back might make him resort to drastic measures. Whatever the case may be, it certainly doesn't look good for the Invisible Mafia.

However the conflict will resolve, it will be interesting to see the Superman Family united again facing a common foe. It will be equally interesting to see the dynamic between both Superboys, as they have been portrayed as surrogate son's for Superman in the past. The upcoming conflict between the Invisible mafia and the Superman Family looks to be epic in scope, and will surely have repercussions for the wider Superman family for a long while. The battle starts in Action Comics #1025, which releases in September 2020. For all the details, check out the solicitation below.
