Star Wars: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Count Dooku

Count Dooku was one of the most powerful members of the Sith and someone who plays a big part in the dark sides' rise. His character played a big part in Star Wars: Attack Of The Clone Wars, and he certainly made his mark on the franchise with some fantastic lightsaber battles.

He was an incredibly interesting and intriguing character with plenty not being known about him, but even though Count Dooku was very powerful, there are certain things about him that simply didn't make sense.

10 Why Doesn't He Care Qui-Gon Dies?

When Count Dooku is a Jedi, he gets the opportunity to be the master for a young Qui-Gon Jinn and he trains him up to become a very powerful Jedi. The relationship between masters and apprentices is showcased best through Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, and it's clear that they share a great bond.

This is the case for all masters and apprentices as they spend so much time together, and as Obi-Wan showcases when he fights Anakin, even when people turn they still care. However, while Dooku admits he wishes Qui-Gon is still alive, he doesn't show any aggression against the Sith for killing him.

9 Why Didn't Yoda Sense Him Turning To The Dark Side?

It is well-known that Count Dooku originally was a Jedi and was proudly a true hero, however, that all changes due to him not being happy with the way that the Jedi were going. He leaves and makes his way to the dark side of the force, and Count Dooku happily admits that.

But surely someone as powerful as Yoda would have been able to sense the change that Count Dooku was going through? He's an incredibly powerful person and there's no doubt that Yoda would have wanted to keep him, yet it is clear that Dooku managed to sneak out unnoticed.

8 Why Doesn't He Become A Force Ghost?

While it might make sense that Count Dooku wouldn't become a force ghost, as he does turn to the dark side, that changes when Anakin Skywalker ends up turning into one after he dies. Darth Vader is one of the biggest villains of all time and even though he does turn at the end, it doesn't really explain all the terrible things he did.

Anakin slaughters younglings, but that is just forgotten and he is allowed to be a force ghost. So why isn't Count Dooku given the same treatment for his time working as a Jedi?

7 Why Does He Take On Obi-Wan & Anakin?

At the start of Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith, Obi-Wan and Anakin are on a mission to rescue the chancellor, and when they reach him Count Dooku makes his presence known. He happily jumps down and engages the two Jedi, despite the fact he's outnumbered, which doesn't make any sense.

While he was able to battle them both previously, that time he had no choice but to do so. This time around he goes in for the fight even though he's on a ship full of droids who could help him easily defeat and capture them.

6 Why Doesn't He Reveal Darth Sidious To Obi-Wan?

During Obi-Wan's conversation with Count Dooku on Geonosis, he does reveal that Darth Sidious is running things from inside the senate but Obi-Wan opts to not believe him. However, Count Dooku knows exactly who it is, but never reveals a true name which doesn't make sense.

He has the chance to really play for himself, which he clearly wants to do alongside Obi-Wan, but he goes against it by only dropping small amounts of information. He doesn't fully commit to the Sith's or the Jedi in this situation, which makes little sense.

5 Not Given The Darth Treatment

Everyone knows Count Dooku as exactly that, which is one of the reasons he really stands out because the rest of the Sith's are all known as Darth, such as Darth Vader or Darth Maul. However, Count Dooku does have a Darth name as he is actually known as Darth Tyranus.

However, for some reason, the film doesn't acknowledge that and for those who aren't as invested in the Star Wars universe they won't be aware of that and it is something that doesn't make sense as it's not fully explained.

4 Why Does Palpatine Have Him Killed?

Count Dooku's death comes at the hands of Anakin Skywalker, but it wouldn't have happened had Chancellor Palpatine not instructed it to happen. While this moment isn't really any of Dooku's own doing, it still doesn't make much sense that Palpatine would want him dead.

Even though he clearly didn't trust Dooku enough to take on the role of Darth Vader and really push to make a change, he could easily have utilized Dooku in the wars to come, which is why this decision made little sense.

3 Not Killing Obi-Wan

During the first time audiences see Count Dooku fighting, he showcases just how powerful he is. Quickly launching Anakin away he gets a one on one fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi and he dominates that as well, catching him on both his arm and leg.

However, with Obi-Wan left laying on the floor without a weapon, Dooku has the chance to finish him off and quickly kill one of the most powerful Jedi around, yet he doesn't bother, which doesn't make any sense. Sure, Anakin eventually makes the save to stop him, but Count Dooku does take a while to try land the fatal blow.

2 Not Using Force Lightning

Force lightning is a major power that the Sith have and it does give them a distinct advantage in fights when they want to. Count Dooku showcases that he is able to use this power during his battle against Yoda, yet for some reason in his final duel, he opts not to use it.

It doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't use force lightning, especially when it becomes clear that Anakin is too powerful for him. Using the lightning would have given him a huge advantage, yet he opts to just not bother.

1 Not Revealing Darth Sidious' Secret

Count Dooku's death is a major turning point in Anakin Skywalker's journey from good to evil as he beheads Dooku, despite him being unarmed. While it's clear that Darth Sidious was doing this to try and get Anakin to start his journey to the dark side, what doesn't make sense is that Dooku just accepts it.

He knows that the chancellor is the man behind everything pulling the strings, and he has a huge opportunity to save himself by revealing the news to Anakin. However, he doesn't say anything and instead just stares, hoping the decision will be changed.
