5 Things Wrong With The Unauthorized Full House Story (& 5 Things They Got Right)

Fans of any great TV show or movie love a tell-all special, but The Unauthorized Story Of Full House is much more than that. It's a behind the scenes scripted film about how Full House came to be and what was going on when the cameras weren't rolling.

It may be surprising to learn that in this exclusive look at the cast and crew behind Full House, not everything and everyone was accurately portrayed. Some things were done correctly, but others were just miles away from what really happened.

10 Wrong: Twin Truth

The movie shows Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen with their mom Jarnett, waiting for a friend at the Michelle auditions, but not planning on having the girls try out themselves.

But in actuality, the twins did intend to try out. Jarnett heard about the audition while with a friend, where she mentioned to a TV executive that she had twins. He told her that twins were used often in the business, so she sent him a few photos of the girls. They soon got a call for the Full House audition, and the rest is history!

9 Right: Second Chance

Candace Cameron tried out for the part of DJ Tanner during auditions, but she overheard one of the casting directors say that she wasn't very impressed. This actually happened, and Candace went back to her mom very upset.

With her mom's help, she was able to convince them to let her try out again, and the second time, she was a hit. Going for it one more time landed her the role, as fans of the show know.

8 Wrong: Not Egg-xactly

The first scene shot for the pilot involved Joey and Jesse dying Easter eggs. Jesse tries to boil the eggs in vinegar, insisting that's what Joey told him to do, and then Danny enters, wondering what the horrible smell is ... at least, that's what happened in the movie.

In the real Full House pilot, this scene does not exist. In fact, the family never dyes Easter eggs in the entire series.

7 Right: Original Danny

Full House creator, Jeff Franklin, originally had two men in mind for the role of Danny Tanner, and one of them was Bob Saget. Bob, however, was unavailable because he was co-hosting a news show. Instead, John Posey was cast as Danny after a round of auditions, and the pilot was filmed.

How did Bob end up with the role in the end? After getting fired from his previous job, he called to see if the position was still open to play Danny. It wasn't, of course, but Jeff convinced ABC to reshoot the pilot with the Danny he had originally wanted. Poor John!

6 Wrong: Babies Or Toddlers?

Mary Kate and Ashley were just nine months old when they originally got into acting - they couldn't even crawl yet! They were the perfect age for the role of Michelle, who was meant to be a baby.

However, the girls who play the Olsen twins at the beginning of the movie are not babies! They look to be about three years old, and they can clearly walk by themselves. They're still cute, but they definitely do not accurately portray the real twins.

5 Right: Rotten Reviews

While Full House is known as a great classic now, it wasn't always a big hit. Critics tore it apart in the beginning, picking apart it's fluffy content and unoriginal slapstick comedy. The ratings weren't good either, and the stars and staff working on the show weren't sure if they would be coming back for another season.

Not only did they shoot season two, but the show stuck around for a total of eight seasons and now lives on in daily reruns over 20 years later.

4 Wrong: Bonding Bros

Dave Coulier and Bob Saget already knew each other when Full House started filming, but John Stamos was new to the friend group. The movie depicts Bob planning a trip for the three of them to go to Vegas for some male bonding time and to get to know each other better.

This trip did happen in real life with just one small detail changed - Bob didn't actually go! While in the film, the three seem to be having a great time in Vegas, only John and Dave actually went.

3 Right: Terrible Two

The twins were frustrating to work with sometimes, and the movie shows John Stamos complaining about how difficult it was to get through a baby scene. John did actually complain about the twins, and in reality, he even got them fired!

He thought Mary Kate and Ashley weren't professional enough because they cried a lot on set, but he eventually realized that all babies were like that. Thankfully, he was able to get them hired back.

2 Wrong: Tina Who?

Not only did The Unauthorized Full House Story invent new Full House scenes, it made up new characters.

In one scene. DJ and Danny are talking in the kitchen, and DJ is trying to convince her father to let her go on vacation with her friend's family. True Full House fans may be shouting, "It must be Kimmy Gibbler!" but actually, it was Tina. But who is Tina? DJ never had a friend with that name in the real show.

1 Right: Angry Moms

Bob didn't have a very clean stand up comedy routine, and he often brought his humor to the set of Full House, whether it be using profane language or making inappropriate jokes. What he failed to do was look over his shoulder to see if any kids were around, and they often were!

In the movie, he begins talking about strippers, prompting Jodie to ask what a stripper is. Candace's and the twins' moms were not happy about Bob's behavior and decided to confront the producers, something that the girls' moms actually did when Bob got to be too much.
