Michaela Pratt is an intelligent ambitious young law student. Her drive and brains are evident from the first scene in which she is shown on How to Get Away with Murder. She immediately becomes a contender for Annalise's prize and internship in her first semester at law school. Michaela shows that she is willing to do what it takes to get to the top.
It should be no surprise then, that Michaela has committed a number of bad deeds in her quest to the top. While Michaela may appear poised and controlled, there are many situations in which she panics, only making things worse for herself and revealing her dark side. Here are the 10 worst things Michaela has ever done.
10 Homophobic Comments
Connor and Michaela have arguably the closest and most sincere friendship on the show. This relationship makes it a bit shocking that Michaela ever made homophobic remarks, but in season 1 of How To Get Away With Murder she did just that. Michaela was shocked when she discovered that her fiancé had a past relationship with Connor.
While it would be upsetting to find out that one's partner was keeping part of his romantic history a secret, there is no excuse for the way that she reacted. She accused Aiden of being gay on multiple occasions and even drunkenly screamed at a coworker of his at a party asking if they had been together.
9 Stalking
In season 3, it is revealed that Michaela's previous fiancé Aiden Walker is now engaged to someone else, a woman named Whitney Edwards. When Michaela finds this out, she takes to stalking Whitney. She even enlists Oliver to help her. This jealous and insane behavior is a low for Michaela. Her stalking of Whitney demonstrates that Michaela often lacks boundaries and has difficulty letting go.
8 Cheating On Asher
Asher and Michaela's relationship was bizarre. It seems strange that two people with such different personalities and backgrounds would get along, especially considering their first interactions in the show. Still, fans grew to love this relationship, despite how messy it could sometimes be. During the How to Get Away with Murder/Scandal crossover episode, Michaela meets and becomes interested in Marcus. This results in Michaela cheating on Asher with Marcus.
7 Stealing Simon's Laptop
During season 3 of How to Get Away with Murder, the character Simon was introduced. This character did not get along with the Keating 5 and seemed determined to make things miserable for them. During a study session, Simon offers to exchange outlines with the Keating 5 in order to best prepare themselves for the final. This turns out to be a trick and while Simon is provided with outlines, he doesn't hold up his end of the bargain.
In response to this, Michaela decides to steal Simon's laptop in an attempt to find his outline on her own. While Simon kind of deserves this, stealing a laptop is still a crime.
6 Stealing Asher's Ideas
Annalise Keating often has her students compete with each other in class. The student who can provide the best defense for a case is rewarded greatly. During season 3, Asher is working as an RA and living on campus in a dorm. Michaela visits him in his room and they sleep together.
When one of Asher's residents calls him away from the room, Michaela notices his notes on the case next to the bed. She takes this opportunity to read over them and steal Asher's ideas.
5 Stealing Money From A Client
While Annalise is defending a client named Toby Solomon, she becomes aware that he has withdrawn $100,00 from his account to pay a bribe. This client is an awful human being who has murdered two women and Michaela is going through a rough time having just found out that Aiden is engaged to Whitney.
In her poor state of mind, Michaela decides to steal $20,000 from Toby. She then goes to a casino and gambles with the money on a roulette table - putting it all on black. When she looses all of the money, she is forced to pawn her engagement ring to pay Toby back.
4 Drunk Driving
Season 3 was really not a good season for Michaela. In addition to the previous offenses mentioned, Michaela also engaged in drunk driving during this season. Luckily, no one is injured.
Michaela is pulled over by some cops but Annalise comes to her rescue, convincing them not to press charges against Michaela. Michaela and Annalise then share a scene in which Annalise tells Michaela she is better than this.
3 Assisting In Framing Catherine
The Hapstalls were twins defended by Annalise. All of the Keating 5 worked on this case and Michaela grew particularly close with Caleb, one of the twins. The two ended up in a relationship. After having sex with Michaela, Caleb entrusts Michaela with the information that he found a gun in Catherine's studio.
When Asher kills Sinclair at the Hapstall house, Catherine becomes the best scapegoat to pin the murder on. Michaela goes along with this plan even though she knows that Catherine is innocent - at least in this crime. This destroys her relationship with Caleb, as it should. It's pretty messed up for her to blame her boyfriend's twin for a murder she knows she didn't commit.
2 Disposing Of Sam's Body
Sam's murder was the murder that started it all. After Rebecca runs into Sam's room to try and get evidence connecting him to Lila's murder, things quickly escalate. When the group tries to leave, Sam suddenly lunges at them. As he attacks Michaela, she impulsively reaches out to protect herself, accidentally sending him flying over the banister.
The fall only temporarily stops his attack and Wes ends up bashing his head in with a trophy. At the direction of Annalise, Wes then leads the group in disposing of Sam's body.
1 Calling ICE on Simon
Though Simon always had a contentious relationship with Michaela and her group of friends, he probably suffered a worse fate than he deserved. Simon catches Laurel, Asher, and Michaela in the middle of their attempt to steal the Antares drive from Caplan & Gold. He then accidentally shoots himself. While lying in the hospital bed, Simon threatens to inform on Michaela and the others to the police.
Simon was an undocumented immigrant who feared returning to Pakistan due to his sexual orientation. In order to protect herself and her peers, Michaela goes against the advice of her friends and Annalise and calls in an anonymous tip about Simon to ICE. This results in them detaining Simon. Though it is unclear what happened to Simon after being detained, it is clear that he is either in a detention center or deported back to Pakistan where he could very likely be killed for being gay.
