Animal Crossing Patch Notes: Every Bug Fixed In August 10 Update

The newest Animal Crossing: New Horizons patch, released on August 10, has fixed a handful of bugs present in previous versions of the game. Unfortunately, the 1.11.1 patch didn't include anything to improve gameplay or expand on the current Fireworks Show event. Instead, it focused on a handful of small quality-of-life issues that may not have been noticed by players prior to reading the patch notes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has recently had a lack of substantial content updates. The summer months have offered only a few repeat events from 2020, with no additions to its basic gameplay, causing many players to feel New Horizons has become repetitive. After inventive updates all through 2020, including the summer updates that introduced swimming and diving, the lack of new things to do has been disappointing and frustrating to many fans. Because of this, Animal Crossing's summer 2021 appears to be ending with nothing new of consequence for fans to enjoy.

One of these repeat events, Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Fireworks Show, is in effect for the duration of August. Every Sunday at 7 PM, players can watch fireworks light up the skies over their islands. This event has been largely the same as in 2020, with only a few changes to what players can buy in the Nook Shopping seasonal section. The new 1.11.1 patch also focuses entirely on small, cosmetic fixes.

As reported by Kotaku, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.11.1 patch fixes a handful of issues, including a bug affecting "Obtained Order" in the DIY Recipe app, item color variations not appearing in the catalog at the shooting studio on Panny Island, the background music of "Tanuki Shoten" not ending correctly, and clouds not spawning during certain seasons. It is possible many New Horizons players didn't notice these issues in the first place, but here are the full Animal Crossing August 2021 update patch notes, as translated from Japanese by Kotaku.

- Fixed a bug that the order was not correct when rearranging in “Obtained order” in the “DIY recipe” app.

- Fixed a bug where the color variations of certain items were not displayed in the catalog at the shooting studio of “Panny Island.” (Note: This likely refers to Harvey’s studio on Photopia.)

- Fixed a bug that the closing BGM of “Tanuki Shoten” did not flow.

- Fixed a bug where clouds did not appear in some seasons.

- Local communication is not compatible with Ver. 1.11.0 or earlier. Make sure you have the same version of the update data with the people you play with.

For those who enjoy playing with friends in New Horizons, it will be important install the 1.11.1 update, as local communications won't be available between different game versions. Currently, it isn't known what future content might be in store for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While the focus on cosmetic fixes helps streamline gameplay and adds to the immersion of the overall experience, hopefully, future content expansions will include big new changes to improve gameplay and give fans new things to do in their island towns.
