Bollywood: AHS Season 10's Sea Creature Story Will be 6 Episodes, Aliens Only 4

Ahead of its release on August 25, executives at FX have confirmed how American Horror Story season 10's episodes will be split between its two parts. Created by Ryan Murphy, each season of AHS focuses on a different narrative and location, utilizing a recurring cast including Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Billie Lourd. Despite each season being standalone, there has been some crossover between them - most notably in season 8 (Apocalypse) which brought together plot threads and characters from season 1 (Murder House), season 3 (Coven), and season 5 (Hotel).

Subtitled Double Feature, the tenth season of the long-running horror anthology series is set to feature two separate stories in the vein of classic sci-fi and horror double-features. Part I: Red Tide, which will be set by the sea, and Part 2: Death Valley, which will be set by the sand. This is the first time that the series has split its narrative in such a way, although season 6, Roanoke, did have two parts in the form of its framing devices: 'My Roanoke Nightmare' and 'Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell'.

While many expected a solid 50-50 split for Double Feature, with each part consisting of five episodes, this is apparently not the case. Speaking to Deadline as part of FX's virtual summer press tour, chairman John Landgraf revealed that Red Tide will be the longer part, consisting of six episodes. By contrast, Death Valley will only last for four, airing after Red Tide completes its run.

During the same call, FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier hyped up the season by saying “We are excited about (the two features) coming up.” Lindgraf echoed this by claiming that “[the parts] are both excellent. I’ve seen the cuts for the first one. I’ve only read the scripts for the second one but I think they are both really good.” They also added that there is currently no word on what season 11 will entail.

It's surprising that Double Feature would be divided in such a way, but it's entirely possible that Murphy and his team simply have more that they wish to explore with Red Tide. The first trailer for Double Feature was released yesterday and showed off what fans can expect from the first part of the season. It showcased all the usual staples that one would expect from AHS: a family who move to small seaside town, eclectic locals, and strange creatures plaguing the night. There has been no such trailer for Death Valley and very little is known about what it will entail, other than that it will focus on aliens. However, many have speculated that it could tie back to the aliens that appeared throughout Asylum in season 2 of AHS.

It will certainly be interesting to see what AmericanHorror Story has in store for its second half, but considering it will be the focus of the final four episodes, fans can likely expect a trailer to come later during the run as the season approaches its finale on October 27. Many posters, alongside the teaser trailer have teased a clash between the two horrors, and it's uncertain if this is something that will come to fruition in the series. Fans will have to wait to find out and be content with whatever horrors Red Tide will throw their way when it arrives on August 25th.
