The Justice League Gave Aquaman The Silliest Power Up

Warning! Spoilers for Justice League #65 below.

Aquaman just received one of the strangest yet effective power-ups courtesy of the Wonder Twins and Batman. In the latest issue of Justice League, the powerful alien Synmar attacks the superteam - and to stop them, Batman gets one of the Wonder Twins to turn into a bucket of water so they can be splashed on Aquaman and power up the hero.

The Wonder Twins originally debuted in the animated series The All-New Super Friends Hours, where the aliens could shapeshift by touching their hands together and uttering "Wonder Twin powers, activate." Zan can transform into forms of water, such as a solid form like ice, or into a liquid version. Meanwhile, Jayna can change into different animals, including villains. In recent stories, the pair have become interns at the Hall of Justice, where they've assisted the Justice League when needed. In Justice League #65, the Wonder Twins use their powers in a dire situation - including giving a hilarious power boost to Aquaman.

In Justice League #65 by Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Pugh, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Josh Reed, the Superman villain Synmar attacks the Hall of Justice, leading to the team scrambling to defend against it. Batman leads the charge, telling the hero Naomi to get her parents (taking a tour) away from the action and calling on the Wonder Twins to activate their powers like he previously practiced with them. Jayna turns into Gorilla Grodd, while Zan turns into a bucket of ocean water. Batman grabs the bucket and throws it at Aquaman, powering up his fellow hero.

The scene feels straight out of the Golden Age, as it's hilariously silly, but in the best possible way. Batman's fellow Justice Leaguers are shocked at the move, as Hippolyta says she had "no idea" Zan could turn into a bucket of ocean water. Meanwhile, Hawkgirl lets out a long "ooooookay," as Batman throws the water at Aquaman. The splash allows Aquaman to lunge into the air and face Symnar as he gets closer to the surface.

It's hilarious to think Batman practiced the move with the Wonder Twins, but part of what makes the Dark Knight such a great hero is he's got a plan for every situation thrown his way - even when it looks completely ridiculous. In this case, Aquaman was given a much-needed power boost thanks to the quick thinking by Batman and the Wonder Twins. It might have been bizarre, but splashing Aquaman with one of the Wonder Twins helped in the battle against the powerful DC villain. Justice League #65 is in comic book stores now.
